Fitness experts are often asked, “What snacks can I eat that will help me lose ‘this’?” When they say “this” they are pointing to some part of their body that has a bit too much fat for their liking.
Now I think some people are waiting for me to say, “Oh, don’t worry, you can eat cookies, chips and candy all you want. Everyone has been lying to you. They actually make you thinner!”
But, fortunately, some people are serious when they ask that question. They really do want to know some healthy snack options for rapid fat loss.
So here are just a few great options:
- Raw almonds, walnuts or pecans (Not the roasted variety. And don’t even think about the ones with sugar sprinkled on them!)
- Fruit or veggies cut up into sticks (Stay away from dipping them into things you know you shouldn’t)
- Hard boiled eggs
- Low-fat cottage cheese
- Hummus
Those are all great options. But if you really want to treat yourself you’ve gotta check out Prograde Cravers. You can find them here http//healthpath.getprograde.com/cravers
They’re made with 100% organic dark chocolate. Plus, they’re only 180 calories and they’re out-of-this-world delicious. Seriously, this isn’t your ordinary. Definitely check them out.

Yours in health,

Christine

PS – It’s best if you choose a variety of foods from the above list. But please realize, you CANNOT find Prograde Cravers in stores anywhere. They’re only available through fitness pros such as myself. http://healthpath.getprograde.com/cravers

PSS – I am a Prograde Nutrition partner

They said: WE’RE AFRAID.
COME TO THE EDGE, He said.
THEY CAME. HE PUSHED THEM,
……..And they FLEW (Guillaume Apollinaire)

I saw this quote some years ago and loved it. I recently came across it again while reading Jack Canfield’s (co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul)The Success Principles(TM): How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. It was a timely reminder of how important overcoming fear is to achieving our goals and dreams.

What is it that holds us back? Generally speaking, fear and ‘perceived obstacles’ are the main monsters that prevent us from moving forward. From there, we can all list a wide range of excuses/reasons why we can’t do something. Having a step by step formula can be the key to making desired changes in our lives, whatever they might be. The following are steps that I use and have found them to be beneficial in gaining clarity on what it is that I want to accomplish:

1. Know exactly what your dream, desire, or goal is. Write it down.
2. Next, imagine what it would be like for you to accomplish it; use imagery to create a powerful vision in your mind.
3. Get the right mindset. It is hard work to keep positive thoughts in your head all the time. Push out those sneaky negative thought misers whenever they arise; you must first recognize them as we are not always aware when they come. The more you practice, the easier it gets.
4. What is it that motivates you? Is it to be a good role model for your kids, not huffing and puffing up a flight of stairs, not wanting to have a heart attack or stroke, to fit in that dress? Write your motivators down.
5. What are your obstacles? Write them down.
6. Make a list of things that you can do to overcome those barriers. Some examples might be, if you eat junk food at work because you are hungry, plan to take healthy snacks to work. Too tired to exercise when you get home -take your sneakers to work, kids to the park, etc. Steps 5 & 6 can be very powerful in written form by making 2 columns, 1 for obstacles and the other for solutions. Feel free to come up with more than one solution!
7. Commitment

NOW YOU HAVE A PLAN!

Some changes occur in baby steps, others in those big leaps of faith. However they need to happen for you, keep in mind that it’s normal to get off course from time to time. The important part is to just dust yourself off and get back on your path.

Last night, the West Virginia University (WVU) Mountaineers and the University of Kentucky (UK) Wildcats squared off to see who will move on to the Final Four of the NCAA Championship. This presented a very difficult choice for me – do I choose WVU , having been born and “raised” in West Virginia; or do I pick UK – the team from where I have lived for the past 10 yrs, and the reason I have become more of a basketball watcher to begin with? UK has been so exciting to watch this year – flashy players with jaw-dropping moves……….so appealing. West Virginia – the powerful, defensive workhorse -not quite as flashy and much less hype than UK.

All of this made me think of the challenges that we face when making decisions for our own health. Do you choose the luscious-looking food loaded with fat and calories or the less attractive “workhorse” food that is better for you? Do you choose the processed foods over “real” food? Do you choose inactivity over activity?

Well -WVU won. How did they beat the Wildcats? They had a plan, a strategy that worked for them; if it stopped working, they changed it. They were committed to winning and made it happen.

-WHAT STRATEGIES OR PLANS DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE BETTER HEALTH CHOICES?
-ARE YOU COMMITTED TO WINNING WITH REGARDS TO YOUR HEALTH?
-ARE YOU WILLING TO CHANGE YOUR GAME PLAN IF IT’S NOT WORKING
or GET BACK ON TRACK WITH THOSE THAT WORKED IN THE PAST?

By the way, good food doesn’t have to be ugly, unappealing, taste bad, or be complicated. Check out Jamie Oliver’s new book.
